Ron and Alana were appointed by the IMB in 1983 and have been
serving among the urban poor of Greater Florianópolis in Southern Brazil since that time. They have been involved in church planting and social ministries including two orphanages, two drug and alcohol treatment centers, two community centers, and several community development projects in poor areas. They have worked with many volunteer teams who have built churches throughout the state of Santa Catarina and done impact evangelism projects to boost new church starts.

Ron and Alana Greenwich on their work in Florianopolis:

“Our main work is with the urban poor communities of Greater Florianopolis, the capital of the state of Santa Catarina in southern Brazil. We work directly with Brazilian churches encouraging them to look around their neighborhoods and see the needs, and proceed to help them study ways of meeting those needs as well as preach the Gospel. We also work with our state Baptist convention in targeting priority areas both for evangelism and construction of buildings for existing congregations. On an ongoing basis, we can always use medical teams, evangelism teams to do prayer walking, visiting public schools and homes, family seminars, Bible clubs for children, sports evangelism, etc.”
